Palm Springs, California, is a joyful and laid-back destination for anyone who wants to enjoy a posh desert getaway. Besides, a focus on art and design, Palm Springs is the perfect blend of nature and sophistication, with just the right amount of stance. The city is full of mid-century homes and commercial buildings with some notable architecture. There are two ways to reach Palm Springs: by flying to Los Angeles and driving 3-4 hours or by flying directly to
Palm Springs airport
If you have to choose and it’s a reasonable cost, I recommend flying to Palm Springs directly – it is so much nicer to not have to worry about LA traffic concerning your arrival and departure plans. Palm Springs has a great culinary scene, with lots of diverse options from creative chefs around the globe. If you wish to try new cuisines- here are some chosen and tried places to be, Greek dishes at Koutouki, Austrian restaurant Johannes, or visit a classic American steakhouse with Mr. Lyons.
If you want to try it all without breaking the bank, visit Greater Palm Springs Restaurant Week, where dozens of restaurants offer multi-course meals for a steal. Palm Springs is in the middle of a cultural renaissance, and there are a hundred options. I visited Azucar Restaurant, with its modern boho-decor, incredible cocktail menu, and gorgeous rooftop bar!
I also went to the Evzin restaurant for the first time, which was an incredible experience. The interior of the restaurant is like eating in an art gallery, and we quickly fell in love with the atmosphere and the incredible food.
When at Palm Springs, start your day with a hike before the sun’s heat makes you crazy! There are amazing hikes across Greater Palm Springs – Tahquitz Canyon. It’s a great hike that offers a little bit of challenge, beautiful views, and plenty of wild birds.
As Tahquitz Canyon hike is on land owned by the Agua Caliente band of the Cahuilla Indians, you have to pay for admission – but I spent about 90 minutes hiking and it was completely worth the fee for the hike.
The Palm Springs Art Museum is a great escape. Inside you’ll find incredible art in a number of mediums from globally renowned artists. Here are four-day trip options to consider for your Palm Springs weekend itinerary:
- Visit Joshua Tree National Park.
- Explore Greater Palm Springs – You could go stargazing in Rancho Mirage, play golf or tennis in Indian Wells, or rejuvenate in the mineral springs of Desert Hot Springs.
- Plan a wine tasting tour in Temecula.
- Take a Road Trip to the Salton Sea.

The best way to escape the heat is to visit the Palm Springs Art Museum. This downtown museum is known as the head of glasswork, photography, and art. The building has an airy structure with 28 galleries. You can enjoy the works by Ansel Adams, Picasso, Chagall, Warhol, Antony Gormley, and Lichtenstein. Furthermore, for sunseekers, there are also two sculpture gardens that you can enjoy.

This place is for shopaholics. You will get art galleries, jewelers, high-end boutiques, salons, and of course, restaurants. The amazing thing is that this place is only within 25 minutes of driving distance.
Early morning hike, Palm Desert
For early birds, the palm desert has a hiking spot too. It allows you to hike to the cross with a 3-mile hoop. You will have to rise 195 meters on steep and rough patches, as you won’t get a taxi for that. Furthermore, you can view the “Santa Rosa Mountains” from the top. Furthermore, the cities of Indio and Palm Desert are also visible from the top. In addition to this, the “Joshua Tree National Park” is also near it. Therefore, you can go there too.
San Andreas Fault
The famous San Andreas Fault is also near Palm Springs, which is the best place for nature explorers. So you can go cycling on this Fault line. The fault line is best for cycling as there are no turns, crossroads, and also almost no traffic. Thus, you will be able to enjoy a 20-mile cycling adventure early in the morning. But the time is not limited, you can go whenever you want.
