1. Statue of Unity, India- 182 meters

Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi unveiled the world’s tallest statue on Wednesday named “Statue of Unity”. India has given tribute to its first Home Minister and freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The height of the world’s tallest statue will be twice the height of the Statue of Liberty situated in the US and 30 meters taller than the second tallest statue Spring Temple Buddha located in China (153 meters). The statue was built at a cost of Rs 2,989 crore and it took approximately 42 months by 3,400 labourers and 250 engineers to complete the project. The foundation stone of the statue was laid in October 2013. The height of the statue has been picked to match the total Assembly constituencies in Gujarat and it was located near the Sardar Sarovar Dam in the Narmada district, approximately 200 kilometres from Ahmedabad. It is well connected to the major cities by two state highways. Airport and major railhead in Vadodara, 90 km away.

2. Spring Temple Buddha, China-153 meter

This is the tallest statue in the world. The height of the structure is 153 meter. It is located in Henan, China. The government of China started the construction of the statue in 1997 and it as completed in 2008. The most famous Buddha Statue structure has 1100 pieces of the copper cast and it is standing on a 20-meter long lotus throne. The structure was named after the hot spring situated nearby the statue. The statue depicts the Vairocana Buddha and the whole statue was built using gold, copper and steel. The structure was built in response to the destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan by the Taliban. The statue was located in Henan because this place is of high importance for Buddhist pilgrimages and mentioned in Chinese Buddhist history. 3. Laykyun Setkyar, Myanmar- 116 meter

The Laykyun Setkyar is the second largest statue in the world. The height of the structure is 116 meter. It is located in Monywa, Myanmar. The Myanmar government started the construction in 1996 which was completed in 2008. The unique feature of the structure is that there is an elevator inside it. This is basically for the tourist to reach the top of the structure and enjoy a panoramic view of the whole city. The structure stands on a 13.5-metre throne. One of the tallest statues in the world that will definitely impress you with its size and landscape. The statue looks like an attractive visual object, however, locals refer Laykyun Setkyar as god and used to pray the statue. 4. Ushiku Daibutsu, Japan-110 meter

The Ushiku Daibutsu has a height of 110 meters which makes it third largest structure in the world. The meaning of Ushiku Daibutsu is Great Buddha in Ushiku. The structure is totally made of bronze. There is a beautiful garden developed an across the structure that makes it every more fascinating. There are basically four levels of this Great Buddha statue. At first level, you can hear the beautiful music. The second status scriptural facts. In the Third level, you will find the 30000 Buddha statues making it one of the tallest statues in the world. 5. Guan Yin of the South Sea of Sanya, China-108 Meter

The Guan Yin of the South Sea of Sanya is the fourth largest structure in the world. The height of the structure is 108 meter. It is located in Hainan province of China. The unique feature of the statue is that it has three different faces. It has a belief of blessing from Goddess all over the world. The China government has taken six long years to build this statue. One of the tallest statues in the world located very to another shrine known as Nanshan Temple. For some people, the appearance of the statue is unusual because the goddess depicts three faces. One of the faces drawn deeper into the Hainan island and the two face the sea. 6. Emperors Yan and Huang, China- 106 meter

The statue was dedicated to two great Chinese emperors Yan and Huang. It is located in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province, People’s Republic of China. The height of the statue is 106 meter. The Chinese started the construction of the statue in 1987 and it takes almost whopping 20 years to complete the construction. The eyes of both Chinese emperors Yan and Huang are 3 meters and nose has a length 6 meter. The statue is dedicated to the politics and the economy.

7. Sendai Daikannon, Japan- 100 meter

The statue depicts the Japanese Buddhist Bodhisattva. With a height of 100 meters, the Sendai Daikannon is the sixth largest statue of the world. It is located in Sendai Japan. The Sendai Daikannan has a jewel in one hand and water in another hand which gives people that water is wisdom. There is also an elevator inside the structure by which tourist can reach the top and can view the entire city. One of the tallest statues in the world, where the interior is divided into 12 layers and there are 108 Buddha statues placed inside.

8. Peter the Great statue, Russia- 96 meter

The statue was created by Russian-Georgian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli in the year 1997 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the establishment of the Russian navy. It is taller than the statue of liberty with a height of 98 metres. The statue has been branded as “The Moscow Monster”. The statue is located in Moscow city. It was built in the memory of the Great Russian Emperor Peter I. He ruled entire Russia for 43 years. The statue faces the Moskva River in Moscow. It has a height of 98 meters which makes it a seventh tallest statue in the world. The statue basically made up of 600 tons of stainless steel and Bronze.

9. Great Buddha of Thailand, Thailand- 92 meter

The statue has a height of 92 meters making it the eighth tallest statue in the world. The construction of the statue started in 1990 by the Thailand government and it was completed in 2008. There is no stainless steel and bronze used in the construction of the statue. The whole statue was made of cement and it was covered with gold paint. It is one of the tallest statues in the world. The statue was located 140 km north of Bangkok, in Ang Thong Province of Thailand. The gold painted Buddha statute took 18 years to build and was completed in 2008. There is a “hell park” near the statue with the smaller statue of depicting the fate of sinners.

10. Grand Buddha at Lingshan, China- 88 meter

One of the tallest statues located on Longshan Mountain China. The statue is completely made of made of bronze and weighs around 700 tons. The statue lies in a whopping area of 74 acres. Along with the statue, there are many Buddhist sites that are developed around the area for the people of China and visitors. This is the tallest Shakyamuni Buddha standing at the height of 88 meters that is 17 meters taller than Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan. The statue has a beautiful landscape facing Taihu Lake and surrounded by three hills. The great Buddha is observing all livings, smiling and protecting his people.
