Traveling is probably one of the most amazing ways to spend your time. It’s fulfilling and fun and you will make some memories that will last you a lifetime. Nothing compares to that. Many would argue that the only things that actually matter in life are your memories and experiences.
Now, we won’t get too philosophical about traveling and making memories, but we will agree that there aren’t many better things you can do with your time compared to those two. On that note, we wanted to talk to you about exploring new places and countries. Paying for an organized tour is easy and fun, but you always end up missing out on some things. Well, no more. With just a few of our tips on how to explore a country, you’ll become a pro and you’ll never miss anything again. Let’s get started!
1. Find The Right Hotel
If you are traveling to a foreign country or just some remote part of your country, it’s important that you stay at a good hotel. Why? Well, for quite a few reasons if we’re being honest. First of all, you want to look at the location of the hotel.
Ideally, you’ll want to find one that is just in the right spot according to your travel plans. If you’re going city sightseeing, you’ll want to be near a metro or a bus station that is going to take you wherever you want to go, as fast as possible.
Additionally, the location of the hotel is also important because you don’t want to waste too much of your time in transit. If you have to take a metro ride for 30 minutes, instead of 10, you’ll be wasting your precious time that you otherwise could’ve spent in a museum or just roaming the streets admiring the architecture.
Finally, you want to choose a good hotel because you’re going to need some quality rest when you’re abroad. Chances are, your days are going to be packed with various activities and you’re probably going to be on your feet more than 12 hours a day, which means you’ll need some quality rest in the evening if you want to do it again tomorrow.
2. Go River Cruising
One of the best ways to explore a country, or several, is to go river cruising. As you can tell from the name, river cruising is just like regular cruising, only smaller. The ships are smaller, the prices are more affordable and quite frankly – there is a lot more for you to see.
European river cruises, for instance, are amazing. You get to cruise through various countries and explore their beautiful scenery, nature, town and cities and so on. Another thing that river cruises do a lot better compared to the regular ones is the cabins. River cruises usually have cabins that have windows for walls, so you can enjoy nature from the comfort of your bed. Sometimes, you may even have a patio.
To make sure you’re never bored, river cruises will organize a lot of different social activities, as well as some bus tours through some cities, so you’ll certainly get to explore any country is a great way and have some fun along the way.
3. Try Motorhoming
Another great way to explore a country, especially if time is not the issue is motorhoming. As you can tell from the name of it, this involves driving around and exploring a country, in your home. Motorhomes are a great way to travel great distances and visit many locations, as from the outside, they look just like regular vans, but on the inside, they are as equipped as modern condos.
You could easily live in a vehicle like this, which means, it should be more than easy for you to travel across the country, exploring and finding out new, interesting things along the way. Adventures are almost a guarantee when you’re motorhoming.
The only thing that you’ll have to “worry” about is your travel itinerary and what kind of vehicle you should get. To be fair, the latter won’t be a problem, as this company offers a wide variety of motorhomes perfect for various cross-country adventures, so basically, you just have to think about where you’re going next.
4. Give Wild Camping A Try
If you’re a more adventurous type and you don’t like being confined to a hotel room, cruiser cabin, or even a motorhome, then you should probably grab a backpack, a tent and go wild camping. Don’t worry, wild camping isn’t as scary as it sounds, it just means that you’ll be spending most of your time in the wilderness, rather than at a campsite.
Wild camping is great for those outdoorsy, adventurous types that prefer exploring the nature of some country, rather than going to museums or roaming the streets. Fun is guaranteed on a wild camping trip, although we’d recommend going in groups, as being alone in the “wilderness” might not always be the best move.
If you do decide to do this, make sure you have all the necessary equipment. Pack only essentials though, as extra weight and stuff might ruin your camping trip. Tents, sleeping bags, food, spare clothes, and quality pair of footwear are your essentials for a trip like this, so if you don’t have all of them – don’t even bother.
5. Backpack Your Way Through Country
Similar to wild camping, you can also try backpacking. This is also a great way for you to enjoy and explore a new country if you prefer nature over the urban stuff.
Just like we’ve previously said, make sure to carry all your essentials with you, starting from a quality backpack all the way to your tent. However, you don’t have to sleep in a tent if you don’t want, you could go backpacking straight from the motor home and put the two together. Drive to where you want and then explore the area on foot, returning to your warm bed in the evening.
Conclusion
There you have it. Those were some of the best ways for you to explore a new country, amongst many others. We’ve tried to keep it diverse, so there’s a little bit of everything for everyone. Hopefully, you’ve found our “tips” helpful and we hope you get to use them someday, sooner rather than later.
