This Is The Largest Reptile Zoo In The World

Reptile Gardens is an animal park located in the south of Rapid City, South Dakota situated on the road to Mount Rushmore National Memorial is the largest reptile garden in the world. It is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records in the year 2014 for being the largest reptile zoo in the world.

The famous attraction was founded by the 21-year-old reptile enthusiast Earl Brockelsby and officially opened on June 3, 1937. Skydome has been added in the year 1965 and later it was rebuilt after a fire in 1976 destroyed everything except for an old Ponderosa Pine skeleton. This garden is very good for educational purposes too, since, it is providing educational interactive animal shows related to the bird program, alligator shows, and even snake programs. All safety techniques discuss during the performances and all conservation efforts to aid in species survival.

According to the Guinness World’s Records, it houses more than 225 different reptilian species and subspecies that include apex predators which are more than in any other zoo in the world. You can also see many forms of flowers from all reaches of the earth. The ground floor section is dedicated to crocodilians, a taxonomic order that has remained largely unchanged for 95 million years. The South American green anaconda, the world’s largest snake, can be seen in the zoo.
