No matter your opinion on the winter season, there’s no denying that it can get a bit boring. The landscape is blanketed completely white, and there aren’t any plants or flowers to be seen.

On the other hand, there are plenty of ways to make your winter more exciting. Here are just a few fresh ideas!

1. Try Building an Igloo!

Never built an igloo before. You’re missing out on an extremely fun experience! Erecting your own igloo is an exciting activity for people of all ages, and it is a lot more rewarding with friends and family. If you don’t know where to get started, here’s what you need:

  • Snow, of course
  • A shovel
  • A mold to shape blocks
  • A saw to cut the blocks

Don’t worry if you don’t figure everything out so quickly—there are tons of tutorials online to help you out. Once you’ve built your igloo, you can place a projector inside and watch a movie as your reward. Just remember to be safe, and that the main objective is to have fun!

2. Your Local Pond Just Turned into a Hockey Arena


Got a local pond? Chances are it’s not a pond anymore—instead, it’s the perfect arena for a game of hockey. All you need are two nets, some sticks and helmets, and a few pairs of ice skates. Now, you’ve got your own private arena for an epic match!

Just remember to be safe and wear proper gear to prevent injuries. Pond ice is different from normal rinks, so be careful and watch your step!

3. Craft the Perfect Winter Workout Routine

If the snow is particularly heavy, you could spend winter the same way that I am. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed more and more wrinkles on my face, not to mention pockets of saggy skin. It’s a normal part of aging, but I still feel young at heart and want my appearance to reflect that.

That’s why I’m getting a deep plane facelift: to emerge from the house in spring looking youthful and rejuvenated! Winter is the perfect time for a facelift since it’s much easier to avoid the sun, which hinders the healing process. Beyond that, you’re a lot less likely to run into other people, which allows for a more impactful reveal once the world warms up.

I am super excited to surprise my friends and family as soon as the snow melts!

5. Go Ice Fishing

7. Grab a Book and Hot Cocoa, Then Pull Up by the Fire

A great way to spend your winter nights is right next to the fireplace. You can spice things up, too, with hot cocoa, a splash of rum, and a good book. Alternatively, you can build a bonfire outside. There are so many great ways to unwind!

As far as books go, the genre doesn’t matter—you just need to like it! For example, I’ve been reading a murder mystery novel, but you could read anything from nonfiction to sci-fi.

So, pick up a fascinating book and transport yourself to a (hopefully) warmer place!
