Water is scarce in deserts and a camel can survive up to 7 days without a drop of water but this is not because it can store copious amounts of water in its humps. If it is any consolation, the kidneys are the ones which excel at retaining water and the humps are used as a storage for fat. The energy stored in the humps can be used for up to 3 weeks by the camels. It is still one of the most common myths about animals. It is also one of the most useful animals to mankind.

Many years later, it was found that they did not actually jump off a cliff but instead launched off with the help of a turntable and that it was all staged.
