1. Tijuana, Mexico

As per the Mexican nonprofit group Citizens’ Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice, Tijuana was ranked as the most violent city in the world for the year 2018. The report is compiled based on the average number of homicides per 100,000 residents. And Tijuana topped this list with 138 killings per 100,000 Tijuana residents, averaging about seven homicides per day. From the report, it was also evident that five out of six of the world’s most violent cities were in Mexico. Every year vast majority of travelers visit Mexico to enjoy their spring break. But due to dangerous criminal activities, such trips can face some unforeseen problems which include homicide, kidnapping, robbery, carjacking, and sexual assaults. The government advises visitors to avoid going to remote locations because violent crime and gang activities are common.

2. Acapulco, Mexico

Unfortunate Acapulco has earned the reputation of being one of the most violent cities in the country. Over the past few decades Acapulco has emerged as a center for violent crimes and this has become its defining characteristic. Stats show by the end of 2018, around 874 people were killed in Acapulco. All these factors have caused large scale depletion in the overall tourism of the city. For many years, the government officials and the tourism board are actively working together to re-invent and develop tourism in the city irrespective of various roadblocks.

In Acapulco, most crimes occur at night, so tourists are advised to stay inside their hotel rooms to avoid getting involved in kidnappings or robberies. As per the data of 2018, out of population count of 365,089, the city experienced 314 homicides whereas in the state of Tamaulipas 559 people were killed in the first seven months. As per the federal authorities, Ciudad Victoria has raised as the most violent city accounting for almost more than half of all homicides in the state. The city is plagued by the deadly violence causing a constant turf between the criminal gangs and the state authority.

Despite being a high-crime location, locals in this city are highly tolerant and racism because of skin color, ethnicity and religion is very low. As a tourist, never leave anything important in your vehicle because car thefts are rampant.

5. Ciudad Juarez, Mexico

During the year 2018, Guayana had a population of 823,722 people hitting the mark of 645 homicides i.e. 78.30 homicides per 100,000 residents. Not only that, due to Venezuelan social and economic crisis is getting intensified – the violence and crime in the border region are also increasing significantly causing the local gangs to make their influence felt in the Guyanese territory.
